What's new about Smartphone at CES 2014:
As technologists expect exactly, at CES 2014, Sony introduced its Xperia Z1 Compact. This is the international version of the Sony Xperia Z1 f which has already been sold in Japan and which is commonly known as the miniature version of the Sony Xperia Z1. Compared with its forerunners, Sony Xperia Z1 is more compact with a 4.3 inch HD screen, but has the same configuration: 4 core chip, 2 GB RAM and 20.7 megapixel camera.
Along with Z1 Compact, Sony also introduced Z1S, another version of the Xperia Z1. Z1S has its waterproof and dust-resistant capacity upgraded from IP58 to IP57, its headphone jack moved into the center and its memory doubled to 32 GB. Meanwhile, Z1S's configuration and camera show no differences from those of Z1 and Z1 Compact. Sony Xperia Z1S will be sold in the US through the T-Mobile network.
Asus was the name that boasted the largest number of smartphone at CES 2014 when it launched 4 new models. Most noble among them the trio of Android smartphone that uses Intel chip Asus Zenfone and sell only between $ 99, $149 to $199 per unit. Asus Zenfone 4 is the cheapest model with a 4 inch screen, Intel dual-core chip.
Meanwhile, Asus Zenfone 5 has a larger screen, 5-inch, 720p HD resolution, supports multi-material sensor, uses an Intel Atom 2 GHz dual-core, 8.0 megapixel camera and sells only for $149.
Asus Zenfone 6 is the most advanced model in Asus' new trio, but also sells for only $199. It has 6 inch 720p HD resolution screen with multi-material sensor. It supports a back 13 megapixel camera with over 3,000 mAh battery.
Besides the trio of low-cost dual-sim Zenfone, Taiwanese manufacturer Huawei also launched their new version of Padfone smartphone named as Padfone X. This full HD 5 inch smartphone can become a Full HD 9 inch tablet with a separate screen dock.
Notably, this device has the front-facing camera with 5 megapixelsr resolution, supports the f/2.4 with 1.4 µm pixel size. Ascend Mate 2, Huwai's 6.1 inch screen Andreoid tablet operates on the Android 4.3 with Emtion UI 2.0 interface. Its has a 13 megapixel resolution camera with a Sony sensor, with 28 mm f/2.0 len.
Along with Huawei, another Chinese big name ZTE launched its Nubia 5-inch Full HD smartphone Z5S. In addition to a good display of the screen, Z5S possesses a powerful configuration with 4-core Snapdragon 800 chip, 2.2 GHz, 2 GB RAM, support 4K video functions, 13 mega pixel camera.
In addition, ZTE also introduced a shortened version of Z5S named as Nubia Z5S Mini ZTE. It has 4.7-inch HD display screen, uses Snapdragon chip 600 instead of 800. But its main camera and auxiliary camera are kept the same with 13 mega pixel and 5 mega pixel respectively.
Hisense, a not much wide-known name in the electronics manufacturers also attracted attention at CES 2014 by introducing its "giant" smart phone with 6.8 inch screen, Hisense X1. It is quite similar to BlackBerry Z10 or HTC One but has a strong hardware with Snapdragon chip 800, 2 GB RAM, 3,900 mAh battery and 13 megapixel camera.
